"No one's too concerned about the things I would live for"
Life is pretty good right now, interesting and entertaining things are afoot.
Last night I pledged a society on campus, something I never in a million years thought I would do, but I was invited and it seemed like it would be intriguing and fun, and it was. Still not really my "thing," but it was a good night; I'm intrigued by the whole society thing. This one has been around since the 1850s, I believe, and I like that heritage.
And I invited a certain boy to be my guest at the post-pledge party, and he accepted happily, and things are happening with us right now, and I think it had turned out even better than I may have expected. He makes me laugh so hard and he extracts my humour from me as well and he's very sweet and it's a nice time, and hopefully it is going to stay a nice time for a while.

Yesterday I attended a "Moaning Workshop" at my school's "Sexpo," and it culminated with us (a whole room of people) lying on the floor, so relaxed, making so much beautiful noise. That was fun. Oh, college.
Yesterday I also took a very nice nap and had a dream-within-a-dream. It was WILD. It was also my first OMG-I'm-NAKED dream.

In less happy news, my mom called me this morning to tell me my beloved Wonder Fish died. I'm sad, but I know that he did live much, much longer than I expected. I loved him - I'll miss seeing his shiny orange happiness when I come home and his "feed me!" underwater dance. He was a gift from my friend during my senior year of high school, a spot of happy after my other fish died after I'd only had them a week. He lived with my mom and I for 2 1/2 years, which is a long time for a goldfish, and he survived illness that made his fins fall off (they grew back) and also some sort of stomach ailment that made him float a lot, and he was a wonderful little creature. <3.

I should go take a shower and make myself another cuppa and do some work. Tomorrow will be chaos, I'm sure (two WESU things AND some people coming to visit me - my ickle pseudo-step-brother is coming while on his college trip), and later this afternoon I need to go shopping for my trip.
I'll be in Paris in a week. Craziness.

"A River Runs Through the Rafters, Down, Down"
- I am tired and headachey, despite the sweet little nap I just had.

- French lithographs from the 1800s are confusing.

- A couple of days ago I smashed my finger doing laundry. It hurt. A lot. I took the swelling down with ice found on the ground outside.

- My friends are absolutely wonderful. For serious. They are incredible people who I love a lot.

- Nothing, no nothing, can be compared to the experience of car-wandering Connecticut in the middle of the night searching for the supposed IHOP, giving up, eating pancakes at a diner, driving in the cold singing with your friends, then drinking a little celebratory beer in the middle of a Tuesday night, and then turning in. Best Fat Tuesday ever, that.

- Crap. I have a three-page paper to write tonight. It would be awesome if I didn't forget to do that.

- I have a lot to figure out for my trip, which is in a bit more than 2 weeks.

- The Golden Compass is a really good book.

- Pokemon is going to ruin my life. I just got a version of Emerald on my computer, and I am obsessed.

- This song is freakishly good, even for Patrick Wolf. And the video is so beautiful it makes me make strange noises. You should all watch it Here. And, I was recently turned on to a wonderful treasure trove of b-sides and rare tracks of his, which gives me very much joy.

- Little blond Italian ladies with lazy eyes who sew my coat buttons back on for $5 are good people.

- I think I am about to be invited to pledge a co-ed frat thing on my campus. I am conflicted about how to address this.

- It is so very wet out today. I'm enjoying the silty deltas formed on every sidewalk by the thaw.

- I have something to do every night this weekend. How did that happen?

EDIT: Ha, I just posted this then went back a few entries and realized that I correct in thinking that I had already posted an entry titled "Wake Me Up When the Bluebells are Ringing," with the same userpic. Good job, me.
