I saw Brokeback Mountain today.
My friend and I took a mini road trip to worship at the only theater in the state playing it so far. It was a matinee, the audience was mainly older people... elder ladies and 40- or 50-something gay couples, mainly. A few younger people, including Max and I.
Um, yeah. I need to see it again, I think, to fully form my opinions, but here are my intial reactions. I'm gonna cut this, for those who want to go into it cold.
( Some of my reactions. )
I'm very interested in the reactions of people who have not read the story... I know I came into it knowing what would happen, I wonder ow it would be if it were all new?
Of course, I'm quite interested in everyone's reactions. This movie bears discussion.
I'll end on a quote from Richard Holden's review of the movie in the New York Times, which was a great, great piece of writing.
