A bunch of women holding cups! (Cups-come-lamps)
I dreamt about Vivienne Westwood last night. It was weird. She made me tea.

I made a Doctor Who macro a few nights ago. I personally think it is made of win. It really only makes sense if you've seen the new mid-season trailer, though. I posted it Here at [info]ihasatardis.

I took more than 220 pictures over the course of 7 hours on the trip to Fountains and the churches on Thursday. Not sure how I managed that.

I went into town with some people last night, and it was great fun. It was a nice night out, warmish, and we went to cool bars, and my friends are awesome. I am still making new friends here, which is one of the many reasons it is seriously going to suck to leave.

Did I mention that I saw Mystery Jets on Monday?
Well, I did! They played a gig in York. It was excellence. I love them SO MUCH.
I'd write a full review, but... I'm tired. So I'm just going to give you the review I sent to [info]thisroyalcity.

I Hear Her Playing the Drums Late at Night )

To do next week: two presentations, one seminar, one paper tutorial, one 13-hour study trip, one 2,500 word paper. Damn.

Er, yeah.
Torchwood macros?
Yes please.

Cut for my extreme dorkiness, Bryan Dick's evil hotness, Ianto's adorableness, and excessive use of the Impact font. )

In other news, the lake outside my window is frozen. I don't believe the weather website, which claims in is 41 degrees out.

VIKINGS. YESTERDAY. VIKINGS EVERYWHERE.
York is awesome. It has a Viking Festival. With loads of costumed people, and a big street market (bigger than the usual one), and a battle re-enactment.

The things I get excied about...
Torchwood
is an anagram of
Doctor Who

!!!

I think I just made the weirdest face at the person who told me that. I was quite excited.

Speaking of Doctor Who... I've just bought something very exciting. I'll post about it when I have pictures.

My ceiling lamp has turned into a strobe light. I hate florescent lighting.

DavidTennatDavidTennatDavidTennant BryanDickBryanDick!
DAVID TENNANT AS CASANOVA = BEST THING EVER.

Oh, and also? I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I watched the last episode of Torchwood series 1 while I was sick and... OMG. First half I squeed so much. I squirmed. I freaked out. I cried. Second half I got really confused (they're not NEARLY as good about you know... explaining things as they are on Doctor Who) but it was good anyway. Jaaaaaaaaaaaack!!
I rant about stuff involving kissing from that episode. )

I MUST see Blackpool. David Tennant + Bryan Dick interacting = Sarah's brain melting.

SPEAKING OF SARAH'S BRAIN MELTING.
I just looked it up on YouTube and IT'S A FUCKING MUSICAL. Or something. DAVID TENNANT (AND BRYAN DICK) DANCING AND SINGING ALONG TO SONGS as part of the plot WHAT THE FUCK. This so merits all those capslock.
I mean, just look at this!

You can see Bryan in the background, he's the smallish one with the sweet leather jacket. DANCING. BRYAN AND DAVID DANCING TO THE SMITHS.

AND THIS. LOOK AT THIS. LOOK AT IT.

Yeah, um. Blackppol might tie with Casanova on the list of best things EVER. I have got to find a way to see this. It appears to only be out on DVD in the UK? (EDIT - I found a way. That's my tomorrow down the drain.)

I want to see Sold, too! Very baddly!! (Preview Here. Bryan Dick is... the cutest thing ever. I've only watched this preview about a million times. I reaaaaally hope this show is still on when I get to the UK.)

This is the most I have fangirled in a long, long time. Sorry, f-list. It just needed to happen.

My roommate's friends must think I am psycho. I am closed in my room screaming in excitement and laughing reaaaaaally hard out of disbelief and happiness.

It's Impossible to be Unhappy in a Poncho... Or While Listening to The Boy Least Likely To
I just finished the last episode of season three of Doctor Who, and I have but one thing to say: spoiiiilers, careful )

In other news:

I am sick. Therefore, although this must be one of the biggest party nights of the year (first week of classes is over + two of my friends celebrating birthdays together), I am in my apartment, watching Doctor Who in my PJs.
I always get a headcold of doom the first week of school. It's just one of those things. Today I finally got off my sick ass and went to get cold & sinus pain relief stuff, which helped a lot... but now it's all down in my chest and being all bllllegghhhh no breathing for you! So I'm staying in.

BUT before I confined myself to my room tonight I went to see "Stop Making Sense" in my school's film series, and it was f'in awesome, because: 1. DAVID BYRNE IS GOD, AND GOD IS BETTER ON A HUGE SCREEN and 2. there was a huge dance party in the front of the theater. Random dance parties and other such moments of pure spontaneous self-expression and joy are one of my favorite things about this place.

First week was good. Classes seem nice. If I end up doing what I am considering in terms of dropping classes, I am going to only be studying visual culture this semester (3 art history and 1 cinema). This might be bad, but I'm unsure if I can keep my history class and handle this possible internship thing as well... plus I want to keep the other three more than I want to keep the history, despite how cool a class about monarchy could be. Arghhhh I don't want to drop any of them!

There must be other stuff... meh. Instead: I just found this on my school's anonymous confession board and... lolz. Being educated + being really silly = what life should REALLY be all about.
This is Just to Say at Late Night )

A Sith Lord named Darth Jason obviously has nothing to prove.
Darth Spiky Death Fist, on the other hand, seems like he is trying to make up for something.

Did I just say something related to Star Wars? I'm so surprised with myself. I haven't even seen most the movies. But that conversation was hilarious anyway.

I should write about the first week back, but I am mildly tipsy and have a stomach ache of doom, so I am off to bed.

BUT I shall leave you with this, my newest Libs macro... which happens to be a crossover to the Doctor Who universe. Yesssssssssssss.

Your friends have been sent on a wild goose chase in the Himalayas. )

I am almost done with Doctor Who season 3! Only one episode to go, OMG.
Two of my friends are dressing up as 10 and a Dalek for Halloween. FTW!

"Not bad for a man in his jimjams. Very Arthur Dent. Now there was a nice man."
It is apparently "D-as-in-Doctor-day!" today, and as I have seen a post about it over at [info]tinuviel428, I am to quote from Doctor Who here.
I think the last episode of the season is today? Actually, it seems it ended about half an hour ago. Hope it was good. I've just finished "Human Nature" myself, so I have five left to go in this season, counting today's.

Um... there are too many good quotes! I still rather like this one from The Shakespeare Code, though:
The Doctor: Come on! We can all have a good flirt later!
Shakespeare: Is that a promise, Doctor?
The Doctor: Oh... Fifty-seven academics just punched the air.

Oh, oh, and this one from The Idiot's Lantern!
Policeman: Oh... sorry sir. Shouldn't you be at the Coronation?
The Doctor: They’re saving me a seat!
Tommy: Who did he think you were?
The Doctor: King of Belgium, apparently.

Oh, summer.
Things I have been doing (a list mostly ganked directly from a comment I wrote to Zach):

- Looking for a job.
- Being really lazy.

- Turning 20. (Woot. Now I can have an existential crisis because OMG I am in my fucking 20s, and who knows where those will take me.)

- Watching too much TV (mmm, Mythbusters and Globe Trekker and Adult Swim). I also watched the end of the last Bob Barker "Price is Right." Now what will I do if I'm home sick?

- Reading a lot. I'm on The Last of the Wine by Mary Renault now. And oh, do I ever love that woman.

- Adding applications to my Facebook and messing with them a lot.

- Getting excited way in advance to go to the beach next week (because, you know, my life is so hectic and stressful right now, so I sooo need a break... from the TV).

- Hiking. Day hike among the rhododendrons with my mom and dog, overnight with my dad on the night of my birthday / eve of Father's Day.

- Fantasizing about all the British men I will have at my disposal in Britain.

- Staying up late.
- Being antisocial.
- Receiving and buying more books to read later.
- Crocheting bags and coasters/dog hats.
- Cooing at my fish (Dusty and Aurelia) and my cat and dog.
- Becoming heavily addicted to The Sims 2.

- Writing fan fiction of a children's book, which has been fairly well-received, which gives me far too much of a sense of accomplishment.

- Daydreaming.

- Seeing movies... The Science of Sleep, which was beautiful and fun but left me kind of sad, and Paris, Je T'aime, which was fucking awesome. I cannot get it out of my head, int he best possible way. One of the sections seemed half-gleaned from a short story I started, never finished, and still play with.

- Planning to spend gift certificates on yarn, crochet needles, and art supplies, and to buy lots of music.
- Talking to my dad about dating experiences and my mom about sex, which were two big steps in a good direction.
- Missing my friends.
- Figuring out what to read next.
- Writing.
- Smiling at the rain, especially when it comes while the sun is shining.

- Talking on the phone to a friend in Australia (hi Nic!) and on Facebook to friends in China and France. Oh, global communication. You thrill me!

- Getting a new pair of my favorite, extremely worn-down shoes, and a bright blue pair of sneakers.

- Feeling like a true Doctor Who fanatic now that I have TWO box sets. I got the Second Series for my birthday. Also, introducing my mom to Tenth Doctor by way of "New Earth." She and I are both fans of the cat-people.

- Having a closet / shelf system built along one wall of my room. Now I can unpack my clothes when I come home! It is really cool.

- Procrastinating doing the dishes.
- Getting hungry.

A meme result that is interesting, but not nearly enough to make it into the main body of this update )

"57 academics just punched the air"
Hehehehe

I've gotten my hands on the new episodes of Doctor Who. (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)
Quite nice. I like Martha a lot (like, more than Rose. Rose had her qualities, but Martha's just awesome. And really pretty).

The Shakespeare episode? So sweet. The reference to Shakespeare's bisexuality made me squee a little... especially the Doctor's reaction. Classic. (see the subject line of the entry)

So... I'm sick (my throat weirdness transfered to lung weirdness and I can't stop coughing). Last night I didn't go to be until after the sun was up (around 5:15am) because me sleep schedule is f'd-up and I was having many coughs. So instead I watched more Doctor Who.

I am only signed up fro two classes next semester. It strike me that this may be a bad thing.
But I'm not gonna think about it right now, because I AM DONE!
Now I just have to pack. Shiiiiiit I have a lot of stuff.

Saturday my mom comes and we go on a short trip to Cape Cod before heading home. Keep your fingers crossed that my car doesn't break down again; it has the last two times I've made that trip.

I don't have a job for the summer yet. That is bad.

Just finished up the second series of the new Doctor Who. Er... yeah. That's the first time I've sobbed while watching something since "Brokeback" last year.
I've not seen most of first series, so I am not completely Who-less, but arghhhhh I want more Ten!

Thoughts, cut for spoilers and inane wanderings )
Er... that's all. Goodnight!
Look at me, being all less-nocturnal.

Things (Dirty Pretty Ones)
Ahhhhhhhhhh I must have "Waterloo to Everywhere" (the Dirty Pretty Things debut). AHHHHHH. Insound says it comes out in the US tomorrow but the local record store's website says it comes next week. And it's too f'in hot to go down to the store tomorrow to check.
EDIT: Pssssshhh Insound is dumb. their front page says tomorrow but everywhere else they, like everybody, say it arrives the 8th. Sillyheads! They have misled me! And I put it on my Google calendar and everything!
Have I ever pointed out that I'm obsessed with Google calendar?

Um. I made an icon!!! *points* It's from the new Doctor Who, series 2 episode... 6? *counts on fingers* Yes, 6. "Idiot's Lantern." It was much the rocking.
Oh, Doctor Who, how I love you.
Pssst. )

Er. Wow, I'm a dork. *proud*
This is my last week of work, and I'm freaking out, but I still feel like I have nothing to do. It's gonna drive me mad, I tell you! MAD!

Oh, and go through "Here" and look at the icons I made for my first icontest, eva. They're for [info]mh_icontest, which is a male model icontest.
Here )

Wheee!
I've been making icons like mad for months and yet have hardly uploaded any of them. I'm silly. Be prepared for a massive update at some point in the near future, as that's one of my projects for next week.

P.S.

Waggedy. Woof woof!
Sooooo the cinema screwed me over today.
First Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest was sold out. So we went somewhere else. There, it proceeded not to start. Then, it went an hour, then stopped again. So we left. Waste of time, excitement, and $6. ERGH.

Watched Breakfast on Pluto with my mum tonight, that was good. and hung out with my friends, that was good, too. Missed the 3rd place World Cup match, but I'll watch the final tomorrow. I'm not sure how I feel about the results - I wanted both of them to get the third place. Germany is cool, but so is Portugal. I'm glad Germany could place, though, since the games were on their home turf.

OH! Last night I curled up in my bed with my laptopy and the first episode of Doctor Who with the 10th Doctor. OH. MY. GOSH. He is so great! I loved 9th Doctor, but 10th Doctor... the hair! the face! the awkward! the clothes!
Um, yes. I am so very, very obsessed.
And there were cat nuns, too! For good measure.
Tonight, another episode. In my bed, of course. Me and Doctor Who in my bed.
Anna, I'm toally gonna do the 9th Doctor undergarment thing soon. Like tomorrow, maybe.

AND: My Mystery Jets CD came!!!!!! Endless excitement was achieved.
